To follow up the decent success of the bands debut self titled album, to record Hotter Than Hell, KISS made the move from New York to Los Angeles. A move they would soon regret. Paul Stanley’s guitar was stolen the first day, and the recording of the album is said to have suffered due to the time constraints put on it’s completion.
Hotter Than Hell features 3 songs written by guitarist Ace Frehley, he did not sing them as he suffered from a lack of confidence in his singing ability.
The album has been widely criticized for it’s “muddy” sound quality but features some of the bands most popular live songs including the title cut, “Watchin’ You”, “Parasite” , and “Got to Choose” all of which found new life on the ALIVE! album.
