- Salvador Dalí had a neat trick for getting out of paying for drinks and meals for large groups of friends. He’d offer to pay by check, but then he’d do drawings on the backs of them, making them “works of art” and unlikely to be cashed.
- When an inmate on death row is executed, the official cause of death on their death certificate is listed as HOMICIDE.
- The largest book in the Library of Congress is five feet by seven feet. It features photos of Bhutan, a country in Asia between India and China.
- All five boroughs of New York City have been the home of a pro sports team, even Staten Island. The Staten Island Stapletons played in the NFL from 1929 to 1932. The teams from the other boroughs are a lot more famous. Manhattan has the Knicks and the Rangers; Brooklyn has the Nets, the Islanders, and once had the Dodgers; the Bronx has the Yankees; and Queens has the Mets.
- Approximately 80% of NFL players go broke within three years of retirement.
Be sure to use one of these little tidbits in your life this weekend!
