Alex Van Halen On Quitting Alcohol

Alex Van Halen recently lost his brother and bandmate Eddie Van Halen – but it was another family death that convinced him to quit drinking decades ago.
Alex opened up about his past in a recent interview with Modern Drummer. He said it was his father’s death in 1986 that led him to quit drinking – calling it “artificial inspiration”.
He said “We spent the first 30 years of our lives trying to cloud what reality was … but by the time you’re 30, you’d better change your ways or you ain’t gonna make it any further.
