Things to Look Forward to in August 2023

New Month Alert!  Here are a few of the things we have to look forward to in August 2023:

On TV:

• Season two of “Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty” hits HBO this Sunday.
• Season three of “Only Murders in the Building” premieres August 8th.
• The final season of “Billions” lands on the 13th.
• The latest Star Wars spin-off “Star Wars: Ahsoka” premieres on Disney+ August 23rd.

In Movies: 

• “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” opens tomorrow (8/2).
• “Meg 2: The Trench” arrives this Friday (8/4).
• “Strays”, with Will Ferrell and Jamie Foxx as disgruntled dogs, hits theaters on the 18th.
• The new DC Comics movie “Blue Beetle” also arrives on 8/18.
• “Gran Turismo” opens the 25th.

In Sports:

• The NFL Preseason gets started this Thursday with the Jets and Browns on NBC.  Then everyone else gets started next week.
• If you’re a tennis fan, the U.S. Open starts August 28th.

The Holidays:

• This Thursday (8/3) is National Grab Some Nuts Day.
• Friday (8/4) is International Beer Day.
• August 12th is Vinyl Record Day.
• August 13th is Lefthanders Day.
• August 16th is National Rum Day.
• August 20th is National Radio Day.
