Happy Birthday Heavy Metal: Born Fri the 13th 1970

In the eyes of many Hard Rock and Heavy Metal fans, this is the day the music was born. On this date, February 13, 1970, Black Sabbath released their debut album… and Heavy Metal was born. According to guitarist Tony Iommi the album was recorded almost entirely live during one 12 hour session with the band playing in one room and Ozzy singing in another. The record would go on to define the sound of Heavy Metal for the next 50 years.
