Here are Big Dave’s 5 Nuggets of Knowledge for your Noggin’ – on this Thursday, February 29th, 2024. Let’s learn something together:
- Leap Years don’t ALWAYS happen every four years, due to rounding. We don’t quite need one full day every four years. The rule is: If the year is divisible by 100, and not divisible by 400, the leap year is skipped. The last “skipped” Leap Year was in 1900. And the next one is in 2100.
- There are two governors of California with stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame: Ronald Reagan and Arnold Schwarzenegger. No governor from any other state has a star. Two former U.S. PRESIDENTS have a star: Reagan and Donald Trump.
- Mattel passed on making “Star Wars” toys in the late ’70s because they didn’t want to pay the massive $750,000 licensing fee. So they had their designers come up with ideas for their own line of action figures and they created “He-Man”.
- Around half of Fortune 500 companies started during a depression or recession, including Disney, HP, FedEx, and Microsoft.
- George Washington, Andrew Jackson, and Abraham Lincoln all had smallpox, and they all beat it.
