Today (9/8/21) Is “Star Trek Day” – Let’s Celebrate 55 Years Of Star Trek!

It was on this day 55 years ago, in 1966, “Star Trek” premiered on TV – starring William Shatner and the late, great Leonard Nimoy!

That’s why today – September 8th – is known as “Star Trek Day.”

If you’ve listened to the Mad Rock Morning Show for any time, you probably already know I absolutely LOVE Star Trek…

Yep, I’m a TREKKIE!

I mean, my daughter, Rudi, even DREW me a Star Trek themed Birthday present in 2020. Check out her artistic talents…including the gratuitous Tribble hanging out on my shoulder…below:

Paramount+ is doing a special Star Trek Day LIVE STREAM this afternoon (starts around 7pm Central) – with panels, Q&A’s and more. You can watch it LIVE on YouTube or right here:

I’ve been to lots of conventions over the years, just to get an opportunity to meet, get photos with and get autographs from cast members of several of the Star Trek shows – Star Trek TOS (The Original Series), Star Trek: TNG (The Next Generation), Star Trek: DS9 (Deep Space 9), etc.

Here are some of those pics:

Avery Brooks (Benjamin Sisko – Star Trek: Deep Space Nine)
Patrick Stewart (Jean Luc Picard – Star Trek: The Next Generation)
William Shatner (James T. Kirk – Star Trek: The Original Series)
Brent Spiner (Data), Michael Dorn (Worf) & Jonathan Frakes (William Riker)
Brent Spiner (Data)
Jonathan Frakes (William Riker)
Leonard Nimoy (Spock)
Levar Burton (Geordi La Forge)
Michael Dorn (Worf)
Nichelle Nichols (Uhura)
Jeffrey Combs (Weyoun, Shran, Brunt, Krem, Tiron, Penk & more!)
Uh, oh! What did Big Dave say to piss off this Klingon?
Whew! Big Dave used his diplomatic skills to keep the angry Klingon from sending him straight to Sto’Vo’Kor!
Yes…I brought my Star Trek Communicator Badge with me to work today! The Mad Rock Studio needed a little decoration to celebrate Star Trek Day. And, in case you’re wondering, that is NOT a normal Comm Badge. It’s an officially licensed “Black Badge” from Quantum Mechanix – based on those worn by certain crew members in Star Trek: Discovery. You know…crew who were part of that certain organization….wait, I’ve said too much.

Speaking of LIVE STREAMS – here’s a special LIVE STREAM I did in honor of Star Trek Day 2021.
