Texas DMV Rejected Over 5,000 Vanity License Plates in 2022
Even on a piece of crap car, vanity license plates look cool! But, the Texas DMV doesn’t always think our idea of a great vanity license plate is appropriate. In fact, in 2022, the Texas DMV rejected over 5,000 vanity license plate applications!
For whatever reason, the Texas DMV won’t let us register “Mad Rock” vanity plates for our Classic Chevrolet / KMAD Truck either (we checked)!
What are some of the other vanity license plates the Lone Star State said NO to? Well, here are some:
- STONED1
- COKANE
- JAN-6TH
- LA KILLA
- F@RT
- BADAZZ
- SHITTYB
- SMKE*EM
- 4MAGA

- SHE MAD
- NO EFFS
- N4KD
- NF*GVN
- GOT BUNS

The Texas DMV rules say that any vanity plate application with words, phrases or perceived intention that could be considered vulgar, violent, drug-related, promoting illegal activities, relate to race/ethnicity/gender or are threatening, reference or impersonate government officials or law enforcement are denied.
The good news is, if you choose to submit an application & pay the extra money for a Texas vanity license plate, if your idea is rejected, you do get your money back or you can try a different phrase.
