The drug crisis isn’t just a problem for humans – it’s affecting the fish population as well.
Research out of the Czech Republic found that trout can get addicted to methamphetamine that pollutes freshwater sources.
The study showed fish not only preferring to swim in meth-polluted tanks, but appeared sluggish from withdrawal symptoms after returning to clean water.
Similar studies in recent years have found traces of drugs in shrimp, messels, and other aquatic life.
