Two of the biggest selling and most influential albums of 1987 go head to head in today’s Rock Fights.
In this corner.. certified 8 times platinum Whitesnake’s self titled 1987 masterpiece was a major crossover hit for the band and a turning point for hard rock in general. It peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot Album charts and featured smash hits like “Here I go Again”, “Still of the Night” and “Is This Love”.
In this corner…it was slow out of the gate, not getting a lot of attention for the first part of 1987…but by years end, it was a genuine SMASH hit, beyond anything anyone could have imagined. It would go on to be the number 1 album in the country and the best selling debut album in history. It changed the look and sound of hard rock almost overnight. Guns n’ Roses arrived on the scene with Appetite for Destruction and rock would never be the same again.
