After 5 years of constant exposure to the extreme heat, cold and wet conditions in Texoma, the giant bust of President Dwight D. Eisenhower in Loy Park in Denison is looking a little rough. So, our friends at the City of Denison are looking to give him a badly needed makeover.
According to the Herald Democrat, city officials plan to seal some cracks in the monument, remove the acrylic base paint to make other repairs, reseal it with a special mineral coating and then possibly add a trapdoor to help with airflow.
The project could cost between $10,000-$40,000. But the good news – it will be paid for by a special fund that requires no additional money from the city or taxpayers.
