Drum legend Carmine Appice says Mick Mars was unhappy prior to leaving Mötley Crüe’s touring lineup.
In a new interview, Appice said that Mars told him that he was “not happy” while on the band’s Stadium Tour, explaining, “Basically, everything was on tape; it was all planned out and ultimately a lot of crap. And Mick is a pretty good player, and so, to not let him loose and play the way he wants, that was never going to work for him. Mick told me that people that came to see it could tell that it was all pre-recorded and that everything was on tape.”
Appice added that the guitarist also felt like his lifestyle was not matching up with the rest of the band, explaining, “He had his own means of travel and would travel alone on a bus while the other guys flew everywhere.”
