Six years after dropping Hidden City, The Cult is back with the upcoming album Under the Midnight Sun.
Frontman Ian Astbury says the title of the album was inspired by a recent visit to Finland, where he experienced a seemingly “endless” day. “It’s three in the morning, the sun’s up, and there’s all these beautiful people in this halcyon moment,” Astbury recalls. “People are laying on the grass, making out, drinking, smoking. There were rows of flowers at the front of the stage from the performances earlier that evening. It was an incredible moment.”
Under the Midnight Sun is due on October 7th.
