Big Dave’s 5 Nuggets of Knowledge for Your Noggin’ (9/24/21)

Here are Big Dave’s 5 Random Facts for your Friday – September 24th, 2021. Let’s learn something together:

  1. Teddy Roosevelt and Ernest Hemingway used to wear Abercrombie & Fitch.  The label was an outdoors and sporting goods maker for almost 100 years before it began specializing in young adult fashion in the early 1990s.
  2. The last time a left-handed catcher played in the Major Leagues was in 1989.  Due to the nature of the throws, lefties can struggle to play catcher and on the left-side of the infield.
  3. Over 4,000 years ago, the first ever customer complaint was recorded in the ancient script cuneiform . . . regarding poor quality copper.
  4. Nuclear physicist Nicholas Kemmer suggested the atomic symbol “Pu” for plutonium deliberately as a joke because it resembled “P.U.,” as in a foul smell.  But no one objected, and it made it onto the periodic table.
  5. The oldest person to father a child was 96 years old.  He believed that the reason he could still have children was that he had been a vegetarian his entire life.  He died last year, at the age of 103 or 104.

Be sure to use one of these little tidbits in your life this weekend!
