Big Dave’s 5 Nuggets Of Knowledge For Your Noggin’ – (7/25/23)

Here are Big Dave’s 5 Nuggets of Knowledge for your Noggin’ – on this Tuesday, July 25th, 2023. Let’s learn something together:

  1. Birds don’t live in nests.  Nests are just where they keep their eggs.  Birds sleep perched on “roosting spots” in trees.
  2. Space Mountain cost $20 million to build at Disneyland in 1977, but Disneyland itself only cost $17 million to build in 1955. The Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge area at Disneyland that opened in 2019 cost an estimated $1 BILLION.
  3. Rochester, New York was nicknamed the “Flour City” in the 1800s . . . as in F-L-O-U-R.  And also the “Flower City” . . . as in F-L-O-W-E-R . . . because it had a mill industry, and because of its flower seed trading industry.
  4. The first variation of Cheerios was Cinnamon Nut Cheerios in 1976.  They didn’t really take off, but Honey Nut Cheerios did when they came out three years later.
  5. Aaron Burr raised $2 million in 1799 to start a company to provide clean water to New York City.  But he used almost all of the money to start a bank instead.  A cholera epidemic broke out because the water in the city was filled with raw sewage, but his bank eventually became JP Morgan Chase.
