Here are Big Dave’s 5 Nuggets of Knowledge for your Noggin’ – on this Tuesday, October 17th, 2023. Let’s learn something together:

  1. Both China and Japan have Eiffel towers that are taller than the one in Paris.  They aren’t exact copies, they’re among dozens of structures across the world that look similar, and were reportedly inspired by THE Eiffel Tower.  The U.S. has several, including the Eiffel Tower replica in Las Vegas.  It’s HALF the size of the real one, which is 1,083 feet tall.
  2. The first person to refer to the F-word as an “F-bomb” was a catcher on the New York Mets named Gary Carter.  There’s a quote from him in “Newsday” in 1988 where he says an umpire threw him out of a game for using the “F-bomb.”
  3. In the original “He-Man” cartoons in the early ’80s, he couldn’t use his sword as a weapon because of broadcast standards rules, and the only enemies he was allowed to destroy were robots.
  4. Disney originally had “Aladdin” set in Baghdad, but when the Gulf War broke out, they mixed the letters around, swapped a few out, and changed the city to Agrabah.
  5. 22% of people say the first time they figured out how to send text messages was when they were voting for “American Idol”.
