A milestone to say the least, today marks the 50th anniversary of the release of what is arguably the most influential hard rock and heavy metal album in history. The track list for Paranoid looks like a Black Sabbath “must listen list” of legendary song after legendary song, making up what is one of the most consistently amazing records of all time. The title track was actually the last song written for the album. As late drummer Bill Ward explains the band did not have enough material to finish the record so they wrote it on the spot. The whole song, according to Ward, took less than 25 minutes in total to write. It would become, of course, one of the bands best known and most loved songs and has been a cornerstone of classic rock radio and cover band set lists for decades to come. Join us today in celebrating the album that for many started it all. Black Sabbath Paranoid, is legend and the legend lives on.
