Unleashed on this day in 1979, the album that brought the power and majesty of Judas Priest to life, “Unleashed in the East”, is yet another “live” album marred by controversy. The album, recorded live during the “Hell Bent For Leather” tour has been the subject of speculation. In an interview Rob Halford says that the album was recorded live and the music on the record remained that way. However, he says, the vocals on the live recording were destroyed and had to be recorded again in a “live studio” setting. In spite of that fact, Unleashed in the East remains a fan favorite and the bands best selling album up to that point. Unleashed in the East is only one of 5 Judas Priest albums to have reached platinum status.
