No Vacation For You!

I remember about a year ago, only some of the 'experts' claimed the economy was bad. Some 'experts' claimed the economy was really bad. A few 'experts' were so oblivious to reality- they didn't think there was anything wrong with our economy (WTF?).

No matter what you believed about the economy- the truth was- because of a lack of financial concern (or could it be financial education) in the past...people were, and still are, hurting. Remember- it's ALL about your choices.

I thought it was hilarious new words were created because we're too damn broke to go on vacation. One of the first was- STAYCATIONS...or if you're a fan of The Daily Show: "Holistays"...

Of course- I'm one of the odd people who would prefer to stay at home catching up on shows on my DVR, reading a book (yeah- one made of paper) or updating my Twitter account. I HATE Road Trips and stupid gatherings with no defined purpose (Tech/Sci-Fi/Web conventions are cool though)! Just 'hanging out' is not my idea of FUN.

The only places I really want to go are to:

1) The Bahamas (Sit my butt in a beach chair for a week or two and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere)
2) Las Vegas (So much to do other than the normal tourist crap...oh...but WITHOUT the kids!)
3) London (I'd do a little bit of the tourist stuff here- but I'd find plenty of things to do off the beaten path!)

But since the wife has "DisneyWorld" on the brain for her and the kids for our next trip...my plans are on hold indefinitely. Figures! So until the money is saved up to visit the "Most Wonderful Place on Earth"- I'm going to keep watching the DVR...
