Everytime someone asks me for a bio, I can't help but wonder- DO THEY REALLY CARE?  Well- if you're reading this- I guess you have a least a little interest in how I became BIG DAVE (other than the obvious love of food...)

It all starts when a young man and a young woman love each other and they.........wait- that's the talk I have to have with my son when he gets a little older..........

HERE'S MY LONG ASS BIO:

I was born in Ponca City, OK in the 70's.  I was raised by my grandparents until I was about 8 years old...which means I was spoiled until I was 8 years old.  Then I went to live with my Dad and his new wife (notice I did NOT refer to her as "mom" or any other maternal word...there are some choice words I could use, but the boss probably wouldn't like it) who did NOT spoil me in the least.  The good thing about this- is I learned what life was like with everything you could ever want and what life was like when you never got anything you wanted.

I went to Elementary Schools in Ponca City, OK and Enid, OK.  I went to Middle Schools in Enid, OK, Denison, TX and Silo, OK.  During High School I was a part of the UPWARD BOUND program at SOSU and took some college classes too.  I graduated from Silo High School (just outside Durant, OK if you didn't know) with a class of about 35 people.  I attended college at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant and somehow managed to B.S. my way through and graduate with a B.A. degree in 1999.  While at SOSU I was also a member of Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity.

I am married to one of the most patient women in the world (she'd have to be to put up with me) who is an Elementary Special Education Teacher (again- she'd have to be to put up with me) here in North Texas.  I have two Demon Spawn (a daughter and a son) who I hope will someday take over the world! 

As far as the 'Radio Career'...I started working in Radio in High School in Durant, OK, worked at the SOSU station (when it was both KHIB and KSSU), worked in Ardmore, OK for several years and am now back at Mad Rock 102.5.  I say I'm back because I worked at these stations (before Mad Rock was even on the air and it was just KLAK and KMKT in the Katy Depot) from about 1997 to 2001.  I've been a Production Assistant, Board Operator/Janitor, Production Director, News Director, Webmaster, Operations Manager and of course I've had a couple of different shows on the air.  They say the more you learn to do the better you will be at whatever job you do in Radio.  Personally, I think they tell you that just so you'll do a bunch of stuff no one else wants to do.

I am a bit unique in the fact that I am probably the biggest NON-SPORTS FAN you'll ever meet.  I enjoy going to live sporting events (like a Mavericks Game, Stars Game, Rangers Game) just for the interaction with friends, beer and overpriced food.  I am a HUGE Sci-Fi geek...and proud of it!  My favorite TV show was Stargate SG-1 (Amanda Tapping is HOT!!!)...although I enjoy all the different Stargate franchises.  Now- I'm a big fan of that show Dexter (see my picture with Julie Benz below) on Showtime.  I am also a fan of Star Trek, Star Wars, Sanctuary, Angel, etc...like you'd expect from a geek.

I'm really looking forward to ROCKIN' all my friends, family and Mad Rock listeners in North Texas and Southern Oklahoma.  It's all about having FUN and never growing up...well at least not too much.
