We’ve got Spirit, yes we do!

We’ve got Spirit, how ’bout you?!

All across the country, sports teams are being cheered on by their fans and booster clubs but there is a special group of supporters we want to honor. Growing up today is hard and being a teenager is super difficult at times. Having a safe place and a positive environment with healthy relationships is so valuable in assisting a youth to grow into a responsible young adult!

Abel Aleman RoofingWe at Katy Country and Mad Rock, along with Abel Aleman Roofing, would like to honor the programs that are often overlooked in budget meetings and that is the Cheer and Drill/Dance programs. The Katy Country/Mad Rock Spirit Scholarship was created to give a hand up to those young ladies and gentlemen who are full of spirit and hard work.

For both local high schools, Sherman Bearcats and Denison Yellowjackets, one recipient is chosen from each of the two teams, Cheer and Drill/Dance, for a total of FOUR SPIRIT SCHOLARSHIPS.

Recipients are selected through a proprietary process with specific criteria. Those students are then honored at the Annual Battle of the Axe Tailgate Party, they’re given a certificate and a check for $250 to be used now or in the future, to further their education and social development. The recipients are also interviewed in the studio and honored on air on both radio stations.
